This Jam was a special, as it showed dedication and determination.

The Jack Russel currently runs 2 separate jams. There is the “Electric Jam” and the “Jam2”, which are held on alternative weeks. The latter was originally catering for the aspiring musician, the one that (like myself) likes to learn from others, playing a variety of genre, from the early fifties to the current pop rock and has been a stepping stone to the “Electric Jam”. The “Electric Jam”, by contrast is mainly a Blues Jam, attracting the more “specialised” player. These 2 Jams, have at the end of each year merged to a “Double Jam” event, bringing everybody together for a music feast. This took place at the 30th December 2010.

Because of a confusion over which jam it was supposed to be on on the 6th of January, the event got called off but never the less, many turned up hoping that others too would come in on the off chance; and they did!

We had a great evening of jamming and socialising over a few drinks. This proves willingness and dedication and loyalty and we want more of this.

Acoustic Mix 2

The venue was The Fairview Pub in Headington, Oxford.

Another opportunity for an acoustic jam / get together.
This, again was organised on late afternoon and was very pleased with the turnout, especially considering the fact that England was playing football in the same evening.
Unfortunately by the time the e-mail got sent, some people had already planned their evening out.

A very enjoyable and memorable social evening, with good turnout, plenty of music and drinks.

On the left you can hear snippets of some of the songs that we gone through. :~)

You can hear some chattering in the background as the pub hosted also a board game evening, in the same room, as their usual room was occupied by football fans watching the live game (3-1 to England I believe).

Terry finished with a great song... Good Job Mate!

Acoustic Jam at The Fairview
Acoustic Mix 1

The venue was The Fairview Pub in Headington, Oxford.

On the left you’ll find a mix of some of the many songs that we did on the night.

An unusual Jam. This event happened by chance on a Tuesday evening. It usually hosts a “get together” night by invitation only by the new and growing band “Dixie and Co.” in which I regularly attend. Luckily for us, most of the band wasn’t feeling well (Just a cold) so talking to Chris Weston we decided to arrange an acoustic evening instead. It was getting early afternoon and the assumption was that it was too late to get people to join us. One e-mail to Tony Baker and the word spread... just like the bug on Dixie’s band members. The evening had a great turnout, with 8 people playing guitars, mouth harmonica, singing, harmonising, tapping on the table and having a great evening. Even Gina, the landlady stopped serving at the bar for a sing-along.

A big thanks to Tony Baker and to all that joined us.

A big thank you to Martin for his dedication with organising the songs order of play.

These tracks were recorded using a Zoom H2 Handy Recorder.
This little gem recorded all the tracks on a single, continuos file over 3 hours, I then split them and applied a “normalize” at 0 dB then converted them from WAV to MP3 at 128 kbit/s.  No other editing applied to them.
The unit was left on to record at the rear and above of all amps (on a shelf) hence why the vocals are not loud enough (unfortunately I could not find a safe place for the Zoom H2 at the front section and did not want any drinks to be accidentally spilled on it) . Pleased to say that the Zoom H2 coped well with the extremely loud music. :~)
